PUPPY CARE AND ADVICE
TAKING YOUR PUPPY HOME
ONGOING SUPPORT
Your puppy will need time to adjust to their new environment, smells, and sounds.
Keep the first few days calm and gentle - avoid too many visitors or loud noises.
Let them explore their new space at their own pace.
Make sure they have a quiet, warm, safe spot to sleep (an open pen or soft bed works perfectly).
Try to keep their routine similar to what they’re used to here - especially feeding and sleeping times.
💡 Tip: Their blanket from us will smell familiar and help them settle faster.
Your puppy will come home with a sample of the food they’ve been eating.
Continue with the same food for at least 7–10 days before making any changes.
Feed 3–4 small meals a day until around 6 months old, then gradually reduce to 2 meals.
Always provide fresh drinking water.
Avoid feeding human food or sudden diet changes, which can upset their tummy.
💡 Tip: Keep an eye on appetite - a Pomeranian should never go long without eating, as they can be prone to low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia).
Take your puppy out regularly, especially after eating, drinking, waking up, or playing.
Praise and reward them immediately when they go in the right place.
If there are accidents, never shout - simply clean with pet-safe disinfectant to remove the scent.
💡 Tip: Consistency and patience are key - your puppy will get there with time!
Pomeranians have a beautiful double coat that needs regular care to stay healthy.
Brush 3–4 times a week to prevent matting and reduce shedding.
Use a slicker brush and a metal comb to reach through the undercoat.
Bath every 4–6 weeks using a gentle puppy or coat-specific shampoo.
Dry thoroughly after every bath to avoid chills or tangles.
Trim around eyes, feet, and hygiene areas as needed - or book with a trusted groomer once your puppy is settled.
💡 Tip: Introduce grooming early - short, positive sessions help them love the process.
Your puppy will leave us up to date with their first vaccination, flea, and worming treatment.
Follow the schedule your vet provides for second vaccinations and boosters.
Worm as vets advise.
Keep flea prevention consistent year-round.
Regular vet checks ensure your Pom stays healthy and happy.
💡 Tip: Always record dates of treatments and keep your vet card safe with your puppy pack.
Although they’re tiny, Pomeranians are active and intelligent!
Gentle play and short walks (once fully vaccinated) are ideal.
Avoid over-exercising puppies while their joints are still developing.
Provide toys that stimulate both mind and body - small balls, plush toys, and puzzle feeders work well.
Never leave your Pom unattended outdoors or on high surfaces - they can easily jump or fall.
💡 Tip: They love to be involved - short bursts of play throughout the day are perfect.
Early training helps your Pom grow into a confident, well-mannered companion.
Use positive reinforcement (treats and praise).
Begin with short, fun sessions - sit, stay, come.
Introduce new people, sounds, and gentle experiences gradually.
Puppy classes (after vaccinations) are great for social confidence.
💡 Tip: Pomeranians thrive on attention and praise — keep training fun, not strict.
Poms love structure and reassurance.
Keep a consistent feeding, play, and bedtime routine.
Offer a cosy crate or soft bed as their safe space.
Avoid leaving them alone for long periods - they’re companion dogs who love being close.
💡 Tip: Calming music or a ticking clock near their bed can help at night for the first few days.
